Green River Workforce Investment Board
>>NOTICE: The Green River Area Development District, on behalf of the Green River Workforce Investment Board, has elected to extend the Local Workforce Investment Area Plan through June 30, 2011. This plan addresses the types of services that will be made available in the Green River Area. This plan is available for review and comment during the month of July at the GRADD Office, 3860 US Highway 60 West, Owensboro, KY between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm.

Meetings:
Quarterly, usually the first Wednesday of a month, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Meetings do not last more than 2 hours.
Organization:
The Green River Workforce Investment Board (WIB) is a subcommittee of the GRADD Board of Directors. Membership and composition of the WIB is determined by the GRADD Board of Directors. The Chairman of the WIB has a seat on the GRADD Board of Directors and regularly reports the WIB’s activities.
Purpose:
The Green River Workforce Investment Board (WIB) is responsible for setting policy with regard to the workforce investment system in the seven county region of the Green River Area Development District. The Green River WIB will work in partnership with the local elected officials of Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union and Webster Counties and with the GRADD Board of Directors to improve the employment and training system in the region, thus improving the quality of the workforce. Meetings are held quarterly (4 times a year).
Role & Responsibilities of the WIB:
• Identify workforce challenges facing employers in the district and formalize human resource priorities that could have the greatest economic impact in our district (broad planning).
• Develop comprehensive, integrated, system-wide human resource services to area businesses (business services).
• Coordinate workforce investment activities with area economic development strategies and develop other employer linkages with such activities.
• Assist the Governor in developing a statewide employment statistics system.
• Establish and provide general coordination of the One Stop Delivery System.
• Develop a local WIA Plan.
• Select WIA Youth Providers through a procurement process, based on recommendations by the Green River Youth Committee.
